Denise Davidson

Executive Director

Denise has empowered people from all walks of life and has an extraordinary commitment to serving others. She is a well-respected leader and a dynamic advocate for her Beloit Community in which she was born and raised.

Denise is passionate about helping those whose voices are often not represented. She has demonstrated this by dedicating over 28 years of service at the State Public Defender’s Office where she was an advocate for a fair criminal justice system for youth and adults. She has held several roles in the SPD’s office with the most recent being the Regional Office Administrator.

Her service extends far beyond her community. Denise is a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Operation Desert Storm. She truly believes in the slogan “Leave No Veteran Behind.” This is evidenced by her dedicated commitment to the Rock County Veterans Treatment Court (a court that gives second chances to veterans, established in 2009) in which she was a founding staff member and where she currently serves as the Mentor Coordinator.

Denise is passionate about giving everyone choices and resources to reach their goals and dreams. She demonstrates this by serving on several non-profit boards and committees including Rock Valley Community Programs (RVCP) Board of Directors as President and The Micah Project as Assistant Director/Treasurer and volunteering at church and several local outreach programs.

“For there is Always Light, If only we’re Brave Enough to See it, If only we are Brave Enough to Be it.  - Amanda Gorman -

Denise is that “Light” for the community and The Rising Tide Center.

Robert Douglas Jr.

Co-Director of Athletics/Operations

Robert has extensive experience as a teacher, coach, mentor and sports director. He is a native of Beloit and graduate of U.W. Whitewater with a major in Health, Human Performance and Recreation.  During his college experience he played football and ran track.

Robert has a passion for the advancement of others and this is shown through his volunteer/work experience.  He coached football and basketball at varsity level for eight years and has ten years experience as an official/referee for football, basketball and baseball. He believes that sports are the epitome of education which involves lifelong learning.  Robert taught physical and special education in the Beloit School District for several years.

Robert recognized the need to increase sports/recreation participation in our community therefore he created an organization called Club Fun2mental which provided sports programs in tournament and league formats to various age groups and skill levels.

He enjoys spending time with his family and participating in recreational activities such as golf and snowboarding.  Robert plans to create an atmosphere at The Rising Tide Center that instills confidence, skill development, relationship building and fun in the community.

Carl Boyd

Co-Director of Athletics/Operations

Carl came to The Rising Tide Center with a wealth of experience. A graduate of Beloit Memorial, Carl played collegiate basketball at Cal-Berkeley. He then spent 1999-2009 playing semi-professional basketball, traveling to Germany, France, Austria, Amsterdam, Norway, China, Japan, South Korea and the Dominican Republic.

Featured in 2014’s edition of Beloit Legends Magazine, Carl has continuously demonstrated his passion for athletics and youth, both in the community and the school district. He coached Intermediate basketball for two years, and high school basketball for four. Dating back to 1997-1998, he participated in the Michael Jordan Camp in CA, the Los Angeles Lakers Camp in 1999 and hosted his own Elite Fitness Youth Basketball Camp in 2017.

Carl’s passion extends far past athletics alone. He has been involved with Project 1649 for over ten years, which is a local nonprofit organization serving Rock County’s unaccompanied homeless teens. Carl has been a voice for those in need and has shown an abundance of selflessness in all walks of life. He has used his experience to provide a safe haven for troubled youth by coaching and mentoring them. He is passionate about children and our community having choices and resources to have a better quality of life. Carl consistently works on new and innovative ways to provide support and encouragement to those in need.

He has three children of his own, Cam’ron, Camiya and Laila, who each give him even more motivation to make this world a better place.
