2025 Spring Soccer Rules

  1. All games (90 minutes) consist of the following:
  2. 10 minute warm-up period
  3. 2 x 35 minute halves with running time
  4. 5 minute halftime
  5. 5 minutes for stoppage time/transition to next game
  6. Number of players on field
  7. Small Futsal = 5 players (including goalie)
  8. Games are to be played 5v5
  9. Teams must have a minimum of 4 players to play. If a team has fewer than 4 players, then the game will be a forfeit. In this case, the other team will provide however many players are needed to the other team so they have a full side. The two teams will then have a scrimmage during the allotted gametime.
  10. Players NOT in the game sit up on the wall
  11. Big Turf Field = 7 or 9 players (including goalie)
  12. Coaches can mutually decide before the game whether they want to play 7v7 or 9v9
  13. If a team is scheduled to play on the Big Turf Field and they have FEWER than 7 players, they can ask the other team's coach to move the game to one of the small futsal fields. The other team's coach must agree. Otherwise, the game will remain on the Big Turf Field.
  14. All games on the Big Turf Field are to use the 8' x 6' size goal

  16. Varsity Division = NO
  17. NCAA Division = NO
  18. MLS Division = NO
  19. NWSL Division = YES
  20. FIFA Division = YES
  21. Game Ball Size
  22. Varsity Division = Size 4
  23. NCAA Division = Size 4 or 5
  24. MLS Division = Size 4 or 5
  25. NWSL Division = Size 5
  26. FIFA Division = Size 5
  27. We follow the YSSL and US Youth Soccer recommendation regarding headers. For the divisions where headers are NOT allowed, heading the ball will result in standard foul at the place of the infraction.
  28. Varsity Division = NO headers allowed
  29. NCAA Division = NO headers allowed
  30. MLS Division = NO headers allowed
  31. NWSL Division = headers ALLOWED
  32. FIFA Division = headers ALLOWED
  33. There are no limits on substitutions for any of the divisions.
  34. All referee decisions are final. Referees reserve the right to end a game if coaches, players, or parents do not conduct themselves with respect and sportsmanship.
