SPRING (softball ’25)
2025 Spring Softball Rules
- 6 innings (*max) unless tied. 1 extra inning for tie-breaker. Otherwise, limited by time.
- 7 pitches per at bat, or 3 swinging strikes (Coach Pitch)
- VARSITY DIVISION - Coach Pitch (No limit. BUT, tee after 2nd strike).
- MLB DIVISION - Kid’s Pitch (No Pitch Limit per at-bat)
- ALL-STAR DIVISION - Kid’s Pitch (No Pitch Limit per at-bat)
- 3 outs or 5 runs per half-inning
- Last-Inning Exception: Rule does not apply to last inning of a game
- Game called if one team is up by 10 runs after 4th inning or 8 runs after 5 innings (Mercy Rule). If the home team is losing they will have the chance to close the gap.
- Pitcher - 8 pitches or 1 minute for warm up
- MLB-only
- 1 minute change time between innings
- Fake/slash/slap bunts are not allowed. Will be called a strike.
- No head-first sliding.
- Intentional walk needs to be communicated to Umpire, no pitches necessary.
- MLB-only
- Batting order must be submitted to start game (no limit on how many batters)
- Teams may only field 9 players at a time.
- Defensive substitutions will ONLY be allowed BETWEEN at-bats. Not during.
- No Base Stealing:
- Also can NOT advance on dropped 3rd strike.
- No infield fly rule
- Base path = 60ft
- Pitching Mound = 46ft
- ONLY ball over chain-link fence is home-run, otherwise ground-rule double
- Pitch Counts are taken from Little League and as follows:
- Varsity Division = 50 pitches/day
- MLB Division = 85 pitches/day
- All-Star Division = 95 pitches/day
